Age360° Checkup

The aim of the diagnostic phase is to take the most accurate picture possible of our body’s biological age and its state of functioning at the level of the major physiological systems, identifying in advance possible areas of risk on which to intervene.

The heart of this phase is the longitudinal analysis of physiological systems, that combines more than 250 parameters and information. The summary document provides a very detailed and comprehensive picture while at the same time allowing for extremely targeted action.

The medical team will use this analysis to clearly identify what the treatment priorities are and measure the effectiveness of proposed interventions over time.

The diagnostic phase has 2 levels: Age360° Lab and Age360° Clinic.

Age360° Lab

It is the set of laboratory tests developed by SoLongevity, complemented by a medical history examination centered on habits, behaviors, familiarity, and health events. This phase aims to provide a very accurate first picture of the general functioning of one’s body.

It is a combination of conventional and advanced diagnostic technologies that have emerged from the latest research and can give a timely and prospective reading of each individual’s health status.

Genetic Analysis vs Epigenetic Analysis

There is a mistaken belief about genetics, namely that our genetic makeup absolutely and mechanistically determines who we are, how we live, and our health. This is only partially true, particularly in the field of health and aging. In the vast majority of cases, an “unfavorable” gene results in a higher risk of developing a disease than in the general population, but not certainty. For a gene to trigger its “harmful potential,” a number of conditions must occur to facilitate its expression. This is also true in the opposite sense: there are “protective” genes that need favorable conditions to express themselves.

All these conditions, favorable and unfavorable, are studied by epigenetics. To give the determinant dimension of this analysis, just consider that our genetic make-up affects only 15-20% of the way we age; the rest is determined by epigenetics.

This is the reason why the science of longevity – which investigates the processes of aging and physiological rejuvenation-has placed epigenetic analysis at the center of its activities, which, although still an experimental analysis, is evolving strongly and rapidly.

The epigenetic radar™

SoLongevity, in collaboration with Milan State University, has developed a cutting-edge epigenetic analysis: the epigenetic radar™.
This instrument allows measurement of a process that changes gene expression called methylation. By measuring the methylation of a set of genes, we can provide a measure of biological age and measure the expression of genes that govern the mechanisms of aging and/or the initiation of chronic diseases. The advantage is the ability to identify which mechanisms to intervene on and monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.

Epigenetic alterations occur years before diseases occur and are diagnosed through conventional laboratory parameters and/or known symptoms. Therefore, epigenetic analysis enables us to identify possible areas of weakness in the body and prevent disease with specific interventions. Not only that, the epigenetic radar is very sensitive to lifestyle changes and proposed therapies in our program and can be used to monitor their effectiveness. Some of the genes being investigated are the SIRT genes, which express sirtuins, the so-called longevity proteins.

Age360° Clinic

To delve deeper into the physiological-functional component of the different systems, the Age360° Lab program can be complemented by a very comprehensive series of medical examinations, instrumental and functional tests.

This program of specialized examinations and functional/instrumental tests are conducted in-person at our clinics and are performed by:

  • a Longevity Expert physician
  • a cardiologist
  • a physiatrist and personal trainer
  • a nutritionist
  • a neuropsychologist

The goal is to complete the functional assessment of a range of physiological systems:

  • cardio respiratory system
  • musculoskeletal system
  • metabolic system
  • cognitive system

This session allows the collection of more than 100 useful parameters to feed into and complete the Longitudinal Analysis, which is the synthesis and heart of the physiological rejuvenation plan.

In particular, cognitive assessment allows for the assessment of the level of performance of different cognitive domains and the components of cognitive reinforcement, recovery and enhancement.

Longitudinal analysis of physiological systems

The reports from the Age360° Lab phase and the medical and instrumental evaluations from the Age360° Clinic component make it possible to provide a comprehensive and dynamic view of the status of different physiological systems, guiding therapeutic action firstly on the dimensions that need the most support, and then guide toward reinforcing those that are already optimal.

The more than 250 parameters collected in the 2 diagnostic phases are converted into a score and intervention scale. At this stage, key parameters are identified to be monitored over time to monitor the impact of the therapeutic intervention after six months.

The Longevity Expert physician coordinates activities, sharing patient information and treatment decisions with other specialists. At the end of the process, it produces an assessment intended to set the therapeutic phase and directed to the specialists who manage it. The same document is available to the patient should he or she wish to use outside medical specialists.
