Ginevra Pignata

I am a Psychologist, specializing in neuroscience, with a multidisciplinary training built entirely at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science and Techniques, I continued my path with a master’s degree in Neuroscience – Psychology curriculum. My interest in the neurophysiology of sleep, came to fruition during my experimental master’s thesis, carried out at the Center for Neurology and Sleep Disorders at San Raffaele Hospital, where I analyzed the correlation between behavioral disturbance in REM sleep (RBD) and predictive factors of neurodegeneration. The study integrated polysomnographic analysis with neuropsychological assessment tools to understand how sleep alterations may represent early markers of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s or Lewy body dementia.

Subsequently, I undertook a 9-month clinical and research internship at the same center, which allowed me to deepen my use of advanced electrophysiological tools such as PSG (polysomnography), EEG and portable systems such as Sleep Profiler, honing skills in sleep staging, reading tracings and integrating electrophysiological data with cognitive and behavioral profiles. This path expanded my ability to analyze sleep not only as a physiological phenomenon, but as a window into overall health status, cognitive functioning, and long-term clinical risk. To further integrate clinical skills, I obtained a Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Neuropsychology from APL – Associazione Psicologi Lombardia, and I attended an Advanced Training Course in Assessment and Treatment of Insomnia, also at APL. This course provided me with a solid theoretical-practical foundation in CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia), the psychological intervention of choice for the nonpharmacological treatment of sleep disorders, and strengthened my belief in the importance of scientific evidence-based strategies.

I am currently a resident in Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy at Cognitive Studies, a national center of excellence in training evidence-based practice-oriented psychotherapists. During this 4-year course I will have the opportunity to further explore CBT-I, but also to train in advanced biofeedback and neurofeedback techniques, promising tools in optimizing emotional and physiological self-regulation, with particular application in sleep, anxiety and stress-related disorders. In June 2025, I qualified as a psychologist and am currently registered in Section A of the professional register of the Lombardy Order of Psychologists under number 30287 .

At SoLongevity, I conduct psychophysiological sleep assessment, integrating advanced tools such as actigraphic assessment with in-depth clinical evaluations and history taking. Indeed, sleep is one of the fundamental pillars of longevity: chronic disorders such as insomnia, parasomnias, or circadian alterations can accelerate biological aging processes, worsen immune function, and increase the risk of chronic diseases.

I work closely with other professionals-physicians, nutritionists, nurses-to build personalized plans based on a comprehensive and systemic reading of the person. I strongly believe in the effectiveness of cognitive and behavioral strategies in optimizing sleep, which are often more decisive and long-lasting than pharmacological treatments, as well as free of side effects.
I believe that neuroscience and sleep psychology represent an area of increasing importance not only from a clinical perspective, but also from a preventive perspective. Monitoring sleep quality, detecting abnormalities in EEG tracings early, and analyzing the structure of REM and NREM phases can provide key indicators of brain aging, neuropsychiatric vulnerability, and cardiometabolic risk.

At a time when medicine is increasingly moving toward personalization and prevention, the figure of the psychologist expert in sleep and neuropsychology can make a fundamental contribution in multidisciplinary teams dedicated to longevity. The collaboration with SoLongevity stems precisely from this common vision: to promote timely, integrated and tailored interventions to maintain the highest possible level of health, autonomy and quality of life over time.
