How old are you? Careful: the answer may not be so obvious. In fact, you might not know it at all.
Of course, because chronological age (the one dictated by our year of birth) does not necessarily correspond to biological ageDifferent from chronological age. It is a measure of the body's ageing, based on the effectiveness of the mechanisms that keep cells young and on markers of the functionality of organs and apparatus., that is, the age shown by our body. It is not a matter of feeling — or at least not only. Although we all age, the pace at which we do so is different from one individual to another, and, fortunately, it is possible to intervene to change it. Today, some laboratory tests can trace our actual age and, like a compass, show us the direction to slow down the passage of time, or even turn it back.
Why is it important to know your biological age?
Knowing your biological age is not a whim. The biological age of an organism is, in fact, a significant indicator of the state of health and of the predisposition to fall ill.
The second-generation tests used by SoLongevity to measure biological age provide not only a reference number indicating whether we are younger or older than our chronological age, but also suggest the biological and physiological components that contribute to it. This information is useful for identifying the strengths and weaknesses of our body and, with the right medical expertise, for designing personalized diagnostic and therapeutic programs.
What is the SoLongevity BioClock program?
Based on the GrimAge technology of the Clock Foundation, a world reference in the field, SoLongevity has developed BioClock SoLongevity, the program that starts from measuring a person’s biological age and the level of aging of the major biological systems to build a personalized plan for healthy longevity.

BioClock SoLongevity
“GrimAge is a test developed by one of the most active and recognized researchers in the field of biological age research, the geneticist and biostatistician Steve Horvath, a pioneer of this type of study and director of the Clock Foundation,” explains Alberto Beretta, President and Scientific Director of SoLongevity. “Performed on a simple blood draw, GrimAge analyzes the expression of 10 genes linked to certain physiological systems. The result is based on a sophisticated algorithm, validated by research published in authoritative scientific journals, and indicates whether biological age is higher or lower than chronological age. It is a very accurate index of health status and also of which systems are the most fragile and need intervention.”

What does it involve?
To determine a person’s biological age, the BioClock SoLongevity program involves a blood draw, which can be performed at home or at the clinic, on which the epigenetic DNA analysis is carried out using the GrimAge test.
Following the blood draw, you receive part of the medical history questionnaire developed by SoLongevity and the medical consultations (online and at the clinic) with the Longevity Doctor are scheduled, aimed at completing the medical history and the medical assessment, with the related recommendations.
The importance of medical advice
All these data, processed thanks to the medical history and interpretive models developed by SoLongevity, allow an understanding of the person’s state of health and aging and the delivery by the specialist doctor of a series of diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations, for a personalized strategy of prevention and biological rejuvenation. By acting on lifestyle and adopting specific therapeutic protocols, it is possible to influence cellular balances, slowing down the expression of “pro-aging” genes and promoting “pro-longevity” strengths.
Who is it for?
The program is suitable, in general, for all adults who want to safeguard or increase their longevity capital and increase or maintain over time their level of physical and mental performance, and it is strongly recommended for those over 40. Available for now in Milan and its province (the blood draw is performed at home or at the clinic, and consultations can be carried out online or at the SoLongevity Clinic, Via Petrella 6, Milan), it will become a service provided throughout the country by the end of the year.
All SoLongevity programs are designed and delivered to promote healthy longevity for adults aged 40 and over and are based on the precision medicine method to achieve the highest level of personalization. They can also be designed and followed as a couple.
